A Place For Everything…

A place for everything, and everything in its place! Really? Isn’t that a little simplistic? Well, yes it is a little simple, but it is so very important.

What does it Mean: First, everything should have a designated place. Where do we use it or store it. Then when we are not actively using something, it is put where it belongs.

Why is it important: This is one of the very first principles for a clean environment. We cannot be organized if we don’t follow it. And we are not really clean if we are not organized.

In a business or office: This means all equipment, tools, supplies, etc. all have a place (preferable labeled) that it belongs. Desks should be neat and organized, with surfaces cleared as much as possible. This allows for everything to look and feel clean. It also allows for actual cleaning to occur. Oh, and it is safer too!

In a home: Kitchen counters should be neat and relatively cleared off. Small appliances should have a spot. Dirty dishes are cleaned up right away. Bedrooms are notorious for being messy. Instead, make the bed, put clothes away, keep things where they belong. Toys are the big one! Have a designated spot for all toys. It can be a room, a shelf, a draw, or a closet. Then teach kids to put them where they belong when they are done playing. All this makes a house feel better. And it makes it so much easier to keep clean.
